How Crypto Prop Firm Evaluations Actually Work

What you are buying

The single most misread number

The mechanics of an evaluation

Every evaluation is built from the same four ingredients, whichever firm is selling it: a profit objective, a daily loss control, a total drawdown floor, and a set of trading requirements. The values differ; the shape does not.

Why the business works this way

Selling evaluations lets a firm assess a large number of traders cheaply, because a simulated account carries no market risk for the firm during the evaluation. The trader carries a different risk: the fee. That is an honest description of the exchange, and it is the one worth understanding before buying. Anything beyond it โ€” claims about how firms allocate reserves, hedge, or depend on traders failing โ€” is speculation unless the firm publishes it, and ZoneX does not publish figures we cannot substantiate here.

What passing does and does not do

Passing completes the evaluation. It does not by itself create an account, capital or a payment. At ZoneX, a participant who meets the objectives moves into eligibility, identity and compliance review; only if that review is approved is a separate written agreement entered into for an incentive-eligible account. Passing the Challenge does not guarantee an incentive-eligible account, live capital or payment, and an approved account may use simulated or real execution. The review is not a second trading evaluation phase.

  • Complete the evaluation objectives without breaching the recorded limits.
  • Complete identity, eligibility and compliance checks.
  • If approved, sign a separate incentive-eligible account agreement that governs the performance split and disbursement conditions.
  • Only results generated under that agreement can become eligible for a disbursement โ€” never evaluation profits.

Where the money actually comes from

Questions worth asking before you pay

  • Is the evaluation simulated, and does the firm say so plainly?
  • Is the drawdown floor static or trailing, and against which balance is the daily limit measured?
  • Is there a minimum number of trading days or a completion deadline?
  • What exactly happens between passing and being paid, and which of those steps can be refused?
  • Which legal entity is selling this, and can you verify it in a public register?

Not a Challenge, but worth knowing

Configure a Challenge with your own parameters

Account size, maximum total drawdown, maximum daily loss, profit target, leverage and performance split are selected in the Challenge Builder, which shows the exact price of the configuration you assemble before checkout.
